As a lover of WWII naval ships and as a resident of North Carolina this one is a no brainer as to how cool it it. From the moment you walk in the ship you feel the history. They do a great job in the ready room before you walk out setting you up for the history that occurred on her decks. From the 16in mammoths at each end to the 5in guns on the sides to the anti aircraft guns you know this ship was ready for anything coming her way.

Enjoy this museum to all the brave men and women who severed as we honor them with this great Memorial that is the USS North Carolina.

Very well done museum. You can go through just about all of the entire ship. I thought the entrance fee was a little expensive, but I'm sure the upkeep and maintenance on such a vessel is not cheap. They were also adding on some sort of additional structure around the ship. We took our 1 year old son with us which made going up and down the small ladders a bit tricky since he had to be carried.

This was our first time on a WWII battleship and appreciated the time and effort this group does to restore this old ship. We got here close to closing time so we did not get to peruse through the gift shop and were a little rushed going through the ship. But what we saw was very educational and was presented well. We were able to get in a couple turrets which was a eye opening experience for me. So get there early and give yourselves a couple hours for the full experience. Another bonus was that we got to see an alligator swimming close to the ship.

We really enjoyed our visit here. We spent 3 hours here and still didn't see everything! I thought the ship would have super tight doorways and areas but it wasn't like that at all. It was way more spacious than I expected. We were able to get a homeschool discount. They have picnic tables outside so we ate lunch before we went in which saved us some money. I loved all the places you could get into and the pictures throughout the ship so you could experience what life was like when the ship was in use. We will be visiting again so that we can see the rest of the ship!

The tour is self guided, which gives you plenty of time to check out the different areas of the ship. It's a very sobering experience, to witness how the crew lived and what sacrifices they had to make to fight for their country - to fight for our rights. From the mess hall to the crew quarters, you quickly get a sense of close these men had to be, physically and as comrades. They didn't have much space, and a lot of it was devoted to storage of rations and munitions. You won't take veterans for granted after visiting this place.
