I saw Dr. Begum 5 times over a 2 month period, each time waiting over 45 minutes. She spoke too fast, was rude to her staff and disrespectful of my requests as an informed patient. I was in pain because of severe stenosis in my cervical spine and felt there were treatments we were missing while I waited to see a neurosurgeon (they sometimes schedule 6 to 8 weeks out). When I confronted her she became defensive and asked me to leave her office and not come back. This put me in a terrible position because my insurance coverage demands constant input from the PCP. She even refused a simple signature that would have enabled me to start PT. Doctors who are not willing to discuss treatment with their patients and cannot learn from their experiences are really scary. She should not be in the medical profession!

I'm really glad for Dr.Begum. She has taken my health care very seriously, so many male doctors are dismissive. I am glad to have her as my doctor, For the first time I feel like I have a doctor who hears me.

I cannot in good conscience, give Dr. Begum a good rating. In fact, If it were possible to give her no stars I would. Here is my experience:
Two weeks ago I went to Dr Begum for 4 issues. She is listed as my PCP for my current insurance. She met me on a Monday afternoon. I was complaining of an injured index finger on my left had, worried about my hormonal levels, and two sore/spots on my back. While testing my blood pressure and pulse, she and her nurse noticed irregularities and gave me an EKG. The EKG showed an arrhythmia. She ordered blood work to further test that and my hormone levels. She then told me I needed an x-ray of my finger. It is not broken, but she insisted that it had to be done prior to MRI's. I believe there to be soft tissue damage which the x-ray will not show. She then looked at my back. I have two growths, one is a painful cyst and the other is a odd growth that keeps getting larger over the last few weeks. She told me that she would take care of those at my follow up visit. She then scheduled me to return a week later to do the lab work. I had to wait a week...unacceptable. Then I had to wait another week for the follow up visit. Today in that visit, she read me my blood text results. My hormone levels are exceptionally low and she proceeded to tell me it was an issue with my brain. Really...brain? She wants me to see a physical therapist for my finger. No therapist will even work on my hand without know what is wrong. I need an MRI and she wont do it. I think something is torn. She said I need to see a dermatologist and a urologist for my back and hormone issues. Yet would not give me a referral. She expected me to know what specialists are good. I was needing her help on that. How would I know.
In a nutshell, I think that I have skin cancer on my back..she didn't care. I have a painful cyst on my back...she didn't care. I have very low hormonal counts...no caring on her part. I have an injured finger...no logical help or caring offered. I apparently have a heart condition, and I have no idea what to do for it
I question her abilities as a doctor. After three visits, she sent me away with nothing. I am no better and that is unacceptable. Oh, and both my wife and I had to wait over an hour at each appointment.
