In need of an update. Air conditioning smelly!

Please be advised, the hotel location is perfect, as it is located just minutes away from Plaza Nueva. However, with that being said, the hotel is in the midst of an alley with restaurants and shops located from one end to the other end (which seems never-ending) - this means lots of noise all night. We were lucky enough to receive a room facing the opposite side of the hotel, however, after learning the first night, there were restaurants located on this end as well, with loud and rowdy people at night, getting minimal to no sleep due to the noise. We were on the second floor; by 7 am - there was so much noise from the room above us (beds moving around, dropping objects/items) and that was due to the maids doing room service. The second downfall, as soon as we entered the hotel, there was this unpleasant smell, which smelled a lot like someone had just used the washroom for number two. This nauseating smell stayed throughout our stay at this hotel. We thought switching the AC on would help the situation. Actually made it worse. Very disappointing as it made our 4 night stay incredibly unbearable. The hotel staff was fairly good. The female receptionist that worked the evening shift was quite inattentive. After coming back from a long day of exploring, the last thing we need is to wait for the receptionist to finish her phone call before she attends to us. Experienced this on two occasions. The lady seemed to be having a personal conversation, and we had to wait approximately 5 minutes for her to finally notice we need the key to our rooms - there was no one else in the lobby. First priority should be your guests, and please be considerate, we have had a long day and if we're paying ridiculous amount of money for a mediocre hotel - the least we require is good service. Be attentive, and use good judgement. Eg: do not ignore the guest and continue your phone conversation and have them wait for 5 minutes.

I give 3.5*. We were in the last floor and had a nice view on the city's rooftops. The hotel is a bit old but clean. Thankfully the room was not facing Calle Navas which is very lively but loud. I do not recommend the breakfast at the hotel, you can find much better outside. There is no parking so we had to park the car for a few days in a parking nearby. However the location of the hotel is really great.
