Graz is the second-largest city in Austria, with a population of about 285, 000. Some 40, 000 of this population is made up of students, as Graz is home to no less than six universities (four "standard" universities and two dedicated solely to applied sciences), and is associated with names as illustrious as Johannes Kepler, Erwin Schrödinger and Nikola Tesla.
Graz (Gradec in sloveno, Grác in ungherese) è il capoluogo del Land della Stiria in Austria. E' la seconda città austriaca per abitanti, al censimento 2010 erano 291. 890, di cui 258. 605 come prima residenza. È sede di 6 università con circa 40 000 studenti. Il centro cittadino è uno dei più conservati dell'Europa centrale e grazie a ciò nel 1999 Graz venne aggiunta all'elenco dei Patrimoni dell'umanità dell'UNESCO.
È stata capitale europea della cultura per il 2003.
