Steve is the owner & great guide, there are many dive shops around but Steve has decades of experience & puts diver safety 1st. When diving, the cheapest price is not where you wanna be.

On a recent girls trip to Playa del Carmen, my mother and I decided to spend a few days diving. After extensive research (on her part... I was on the beach!) and several email correspondences with local dive shops, we chose to dive with Reef Quest Divers and were very impressed with our experience. The Dive Master at this shop is Steve. His honesty, refreshing and inherently British, was the reason we chose him over other dive masters at the other local shops.
My mother and I are semi-experienced divers and have scuba'ed in Playa before, so we were interested in visiting dive sites we had not been to before and doing a night dive (our personal favorite). Steve was willing to work with us but was also insistent on ensuring safety on every day and verifying that we were competent before allowing us to dive at night. Our night dive was with Steven (?), a freshly minted dive master from Belgium, and was one of my best dives ever.
Our co-travelers, my sister-in-law and her daughter, took the Intro to diving class (or whatever it’s called). They had no previous experience diving. My niece had never even snorkeled in the ocean before. Steve did a wonderful job explaining to them the basics and important safety components of diving, before taking them one-on-one on their first mini-dive. My mom and I had so much fun nosily watching them, that we wasted the first half of our snorkeling! When my 16 year-old niece got back to the condo that night, she said, "That was probably the coolest thing that I have ever done." High praise that is even more significant when considering the source is an electronically dependent teenager! We will dive with Steve again when we return to Playa del Carmen.

During our holiday in Riviera Maya, my husband and I went with Reef Quest Diving company to experience scuba diving for the first time, and we are so glad we chose them!
Once we were at the company, Steve and his team - Devon, Steven & June (photographer) were ready to welcome us to the 'discover scuba diving' program.
Before our main dive, we were first trained by Devon with theoretical knowledge & hand signals for our dive, and I must tell you that it was done with such expertise and perfection making us feel so confident.
The practicing of the skills and then the main dive, after the theory class, was so perfect that my husband who knew just the very basics of swimming felt so confident and comfortable, and completed the dive so well. Devon and Steven, each, were always with the one of us making us feel so comfortable under water, while June was gracefully moving around us clicking pictures! :) The skills in the shallow water were taught so well to us by Devon that we knew what must be done and when during our main dive.
Devon, Steven & June were friendly, courteous and sensitive to our fears and apprehensions, and made us feel extremely confident and comfortable throughout. We are so grateful to them for giving us such a fantastic experience of the mesmerising marine world!!! :-)

Steve, the owner, is a great teacher. Safety is ALWAYS the highest priority. He knows the area like the back of his hand and will go out of his way to make sure that you have a memorable experience. This is not just another cattle boat type dive. Make sure to dive a cenote with Steve. He floats through the caverns with seemingly no effort. All around amazing time diving with them.I will go again.

Reef Quest Divers provided an exceptional experience at an outstanding price. Steve was the Divemaster on my dives (my first ocean dives) and he was very thorough in explaining topography, hand signals, safety procedures, etc. I felt extremely safe at all times. I'll definitely be diving with Steve when we return to Playa Del Carmen.
